The surgery date will have to be next year

Sadly, I learned about a month ago that the amount of the Stafford Loan from Community College of Denver is too laughably small to help me get the surgery. So, with the little job prospects that I do have and the little hope that I have of getting gainful employment, I am going to have to cede to the fact that I will not be having surgery before the end of the surgery. But if nothing else, it will help teach me how to live as female without the surgery, thus appreciating the surgery more. And yes, it will give me more time to prepare things before I leave. Namely, the little things such as getting a cache of money together for Chinese food delivery, a cache of food to ensure that I do not have to run to Whole Foods while lying around the house, enough to pay off my utilties for a couple of months and to purchase the sundry items needed that I would go through much quicker since I would be at home, recovering from major surgery. “Truth Truck” Blasts Senate Bill 200

On my way home from the GLBT Centre on Tuesday (printing off a few things and thanking Rahn for his spectacular work with Pridefest), I saw this truck that was painted up with all sorts of Biblical hate speech against homosexuality and Senate Bill 200 (PDF). Happy Pride and Happy 21st Birthday

As I have let on numerous times in my last post and in my day to day conversations, yesterday was my 21st birthday. It was also the day of the pride parade. And to be fair, I didn’t just attend the parade, I marched in it with my fellow UUs and my friend Judy. It was a very high energy event and I was very excited to be a part of the parade. True, it was hot and I wasn’t wearing a suitable hat, let alone sunscreen with a suitable SPF (15 is not enough, I tells ya!), but I am definitely doing this again next year. ^_^ Continue reading ‘Happy Pride and Happy 21st Birthday’

Pridefest, yay!

Well, I am volunteering at Denver Pridefest on both the 21st and the 22nd of this month. I am also going to be marching in the pride parade with my fellow UUs from the Mountain Desert District. So yeah, next weekend is pretty full for me, as I will probably be operating some sort of booth and policing the area to ensure that no one is selling anything at the Pridefest without having paid the GLBT Centre first. Tomorrow is my volunteer orientation so that is what I am doing after I get through with Pathways to Membership at First Unitarian Denver tomorrow. Continue reading ‘Pridefest, yay!’

The Name Change!

After going through the closest thing to purgatory that an atheist can go through, the greyhound bus, I finalized my legal name change on the 29th of May. ^_^ It was a journey that took me approximately 4 days of hell and torment. The journey started on Tuesday, May 27th, when I arrived at the Denver Greyhound station and had to wait in fucking line for a baggage tag for one of my bags. I was almost worried that the bus would leave me. But the bus ultimately left 45 minutes late because the driver needed to pack about 6 more people onto the bus. And before we even left, a passenger that was drunk as a skunk, took a swing at another passenger before we even left the terminal. Well, at least he got a good night’s rest at Denver County Jail. My computer is broken!

Sad to announce, my Macbook Pro breathed it’s last breaths and keeled over on Sunday (or was it Monday, hell if I know). Can computers breathe? Meh, why debate semantics at a time like this. My computer fell off my lap and I think that may have busted the processor or the ram chips or something. Hopefully, it wasn’t the hard drive, because I have 3 years of music on that hard drive and I don’t want to lose it! But regardless, I plan to start blogging about the name change and the crap that I had t

Ex-Gay Quackery and Why You Should Care

There is a threat in this world that threatens the very people that support it. Ex-gay camps, or as they really are, gay concentration camps, make money off of the gullible people that are willing to send their kids on one of these retreats. These people scoop the personality and critical thinking skills (or what is left of them) out of a person’s head and collect your money. This is not a tin foil hat conspiracy theory, it is actually happening right here and right now! Sometimes, people are able to break free from the programming that goes on at these camps (thus creating ex-ex-gays, who speak out against the institution). However, given this very real threat, we should all be aware of it and do everything we can to stop it. Continue reading ‘Ex-Gay Quackery and Why You Should Care’

What I use to author this blog

I have a certain set of tools that I actively use to post to my blog. While it can be posted to when I am at any computer, I use the following hardware most of the time when I am writing on my blog. As a former tech-obssessed geek, I have a tech preference for certain brands as I have had experience with cheap crap. Dell, Lexmark and other craptacular brands like that are obviously low quality and I would never purchase them. However, Apple and Pentax are brands that I trust, because they have never broken down through reasons that could not be blamed on me. However, these things of mine fall apart thanks to being in my possession. Continue reading ‘What I use to author this blog’

My pilgrimage to Indiana and the blog

On Tuesday, I will be making the trip to Indiana to finalize the legal name change. I have a few sets of clothes packed and enough food to get me there and maybe to help me survive the trip back. I have enough reading material to interest me for the trip there, and when I get back, I will bring back the rest of my reading materials in my second suitcase (hope Areya can spare $5 for the extra suitcase fee that Greyhound levies, I am broke after Wells Fargo levied one false overdraft fee too many). Other than that, I am totally ready and excited to attend the name change hearing before the judge in the middle-of-fucking-nowhere, Indiana. And I am totally excited to head the hell back here to Colorado and obtain my fully female ID card with the DR 2083 that I had to have Dr. Wilson sign. This is NOT a splog!

I would like to make it clear that this is not a splog. It is true that I am doing commercially-motivated posts for advertisers on PayPerPost. However, I am only doing so with the concept that this blog will still contain my own original and unique content. I have no desire to turn this blog into a splog (or a spam log) and I will not exchange links with splogs. Sorry, but I don’t need that hubris. (And yes, this is a very short rant post but trust me, it was warranted)
