I often touch on my experience with Bolder Calls and PrimeSource back in 2008 and I would like to share my experience with Bolder Calls, a call centre to help generate insurance quote leads located at 32nd & Prarie in Boulder, Colorado. I was technically hired through an on-site temporary agency called PrimeSource, which has their main offices at 600 Grant Street in Denver, Colorado. This company has no interest in treating people equally and does not even abide by the rule of law, which has been a state law for a while now and was a Boulder County local ordinance for longer than the state has made it illegal. I do not recommend that people work for Bolder Calls because they can claim a number of awesome sounding benefits but in the end, that’s all it is, sound and nothing more. Even though they claim non-discrimination, my story proves that these are just meaningless words and they do not stand up for their minority/queer employees when they are being subjected to another person’s bigotry. And this is not speculative. This is 100% true, they have made their discrimination against me based on gender identity and my transsexuality and have told me as such. It’s only a shame that they did it so that they would not have any witnesses. Read the rest of this entry »
As any activist in our community knows, one of the ways that we describe our community involves unwieldily odd acronyms that don’t slip off the tongue quite easily like LGBTQIA and with those acronyms, you are always leaving SOMEONE out. Well, I remember reading something in the way early stages of my transition, long before I started on my hormones and moved to Denver due to the allure of Naropa and it was very good. Hell, it was and is something that we definitely need to help show what our community truly is about, with little ambiguity. It’s, yep, you guessed it – another acronym but this one is a lot more descriptive and much easier to pronounce with the possibility of people knowing what the hell it actually means. The acronym is FABGLITTER and it stands for Fetish, Allies, Bisexuals, Gay, Lesbians, Intersexed, Transgender, Transsexual Engendering Revolution. I know of a friend that substitutes the F in FABGLITTER to mean Furry and another friend who substitutes the A to mean Asexual but this just goes to show how strong this acronym truly is. One thing I definitely have to say is that I wish sexual orientation was a choice and that we could choose what gender of people we are attracted to. I say this because I wish that I were attracted to other women considering the fact that men are such lying, cheating assholes and they never seem to honour the concepts of love, trust or even honesty. They are unwilling to be loving, kind or even honest unless they are one of the rare breeds which actually seems to care about the inside of a person. I have seen the relationships of friends of mine who are transsexual lesbians, fallen in love with another transsexual lesbian who gets her, and then they have a fairly stable and happy life together. I’ve tried that, barring all common sense, logic and my own sexual orientation and would up with the ex from hell. Read the rest of this entry »
Many transwomen post photos of their surgeries online and while I have taken a look at these photos, I would have to say that I have no desire to ever take photos of my new vagina simply because of the fact that it just simply goes beyond my comfort level. In this post, I want to explain why it is that transwomen choose to share photos of their surgery results. I also want to explain the differences between them and me, as there are a few fundamental differences between these women and I which would prohibit me from sharing these photos online. I also explain some of my considerations, such as helping to promote the services of my doctor which has done so much to help me, albeit at my own expense. Read the rest of this entry »
I read a post called “Why Do Women Let Themselves Go?” on Super Kawaii Mom and while that was quite an interesting post and I really did enjoy reading it, I do have to say that there are a few additional points that would inspire a transsexual woman to let herself go as well. I have thought about this and I have wondered why it is that I have seen some pretty gorgeous crossdressers on Flickr and people who really doll themselves up like Becky from Becky’s Web but most transsexuals you see are usually fairly frumpy – myself included. When I first spotted this, I was taken aback and wondering how the hell these people who didn’t live as women looked so much better than those of us who live our lives 24/7 as women.
