Dear MediaTemple,
Sit down, because the news I have for you is going to hurt, although I seriously doubt it considering how our relationship has been over these few years. Even though we have been together for the last three years, I am afraid that you no longer provide me with what I need, if you ever have at all. I have tried, I really have tried to be a good customer and tried to give you the benefit of the doubt for the most part. However, I have to say that I am fed up being left with nothing to show for our relationship but excuses abound so I am going to have to say that it is through. I have decided to go back to my old web host, A Small Orange, simply because of the fact that they have always met my needs and been willing to listen and communicate. It is just so hard to talk to you MediaTemple and even though you make all sorts of lofty plans and claims, hardly any of them ever work out the way you plan. Hell, I cannot even count how many times the problems with the Grid Service have been swept under the rug with promises of the Cluster Server, which is unlikely to ever come, given how much progress has been made on it thus far.
When I got married, I had someone else who wanted web hosting and she is a little bit more knowledgeable than me on things network-related. She woke me up to the fact that your service is as slow as fucking molasses and I for one, am shocked at this revelation. The reason to this development is simply because I am a Buddhist and I believe in patience, as well as a second chance – I partake in meditation, I try to live a life that is not the hurry up and get here damn it mentality that the West has to offer. However, my wife is not the only one that has mentioned how sucky MediaTemple is. In fact, when you take a look at what others are saying about you, it is pretty obvious that your forays into the hosting industry is just one big mistake for consumers. My site has shown no signs of improvement since moving to the grid service and frankly, it is time to abandon ship and move back to the Lifetime hosting plan that I purchased from A Small Orange. Ironically, even though A Small Orange is not making any additional money off of me (except for maybe a future move from the Lifetime Small plan I have to Lifetime Medium), they provide me with much better support and much quicker response time than MediaTemple ever has.
I attempted to try to move and while most of the files have been successfully moved, the MySQL database was hard to move (the MySQL database was about 100MB). I cannot, in good conscience, advocate that anyone partake in your services anymore, simply because my website and I have given you nearly (if not) 3 years to get your act together. I remember leaving a perfectly good webhost to take a ride to see where your product would lead my site and I and it turns out, I jumped a motorboat to drift in the ocean on a raft. And you do not even have the paddle anywhere that I can see. So, that is what we are left with, MediaTemple, being left up the creek without a paddle. And now, like any sane, rational person would do, I am going to start making plans to actually take my websites and go to a competent webhost that can serve our pages up at an acceptable speed. As it stands, MediaTemple, the speeds you have provided me are far from acceptable – not by any stretch of the imagination.
Sincerely,
Jessica E. Sideways
