In Order to Lose Weight; I Need Power Yoga!

Dear readers, I want to tell you a little something about me that most people do not know, I have always been fat. By always, I mean that I have been fat ever since I was around 9 or 10. I currently weigh about 213 pounds and I want to finally be slim but I do not care so much about pounds. What I care about is inches, so what if the pounds do not drop but rather, become a more feminine muscle rather than a pot belly. In my personal opinion, if that were to happen, I would be thrilled simply because for the first time in years, I will finally be thin and fit. And this means I will have more energy to do more things, which is good because I have been getting really tired in my primarily sedentary life. I personally believe that a power yoga practice will help me to become much more healthy, lose weight and have a better llife as a result.

The one thing I most definitely do not want to do is diet, simply because I cannot stand it. However, I think that if I do power yoga, I will be able to make slight modifications to my diet and maybe have a chance at losing weight. Power Yoga is much more intensive yoga, formulated to be a very intensive workout – much more intensive than regular yoga. And personally, I believe that it is what I need in my life but the one thing I must say is that I cannot afford it right now. I cannot afford the initial cost for the desired materials (yoga pants, yoga top, yoga mat and bag, water bottle) nor the membership fees for the studios. But once I do get the money issue out of the way, I am definitely going to go as soon as possible – hell I have already proven that when I say I am going to do something as soon as I get the money, I mean it. And now that I have my sex reassignment surgery, I can use the proper locker rooms seeing as I may have a long commute and I want to spare my fellow public transit users the smell of my bodily waste fluids.

One of the forms of Power Yoga that I am looking into is Bikram Yoga and it is given preference because I have done this type before. However, the problem with this type of yoga is that in order to do it and get the full range of benefits if the room is not heated to 105-115 degrees. However, I understand as to why they do this – it is simply because of the fact that they want the muscles to stretch further than they normally could. From what I have read and heard, Bikram Yoga offers a serious number of benefits to it’s practitioners. However, the problem is that right now, I cannot afford the most reasonably priced studio in the Denver Metro Area (which is out in the middle of fucking nowhere, one studio in Longmont and another around 104th & Sheridan in Westminster) nor the one closest to me and downtown Denver. Hell, just the weight loss possibilities and posture improvements alone would definitely justify investing in Bikram Yoga.

Another form of power yoga that I have considered is Baptiste Yoga and I have heard good things about it. However, there is only one studio here in Denver and I personally have misgivings about it, as I explain below in the next paragraph. However, I do have to say that based on what I have read about it, it is not nearly as good as Bikram Yoga. Of course, I have never experienced it so I do not know that much about Baptiste Yoga.

As an aside, the only Baptiste affiliate studio here in Denver, Yoga on 6th, also teaches Bikram Yoga and only charges one monthly fee for both kinds of courses. However, Yoga on 6th is not listed on the Bikram Yoga site as being a certified Bikram studio so I am quite concerned about the quality of their teachings. I have already contacted the people on the main Bikram Yoga website about this matter and hopefully, they will get back to me on this as soon as possible, as this seems to be the best deal in the Denver Metro Area.

One thing I must also say that due to the popularity of yoga, there are a number of yoga scams. I recommend checking out any studio you are thinking about attending because I was about to start attending classes at a Dahn Yoga studio here in Denver when I found a flyer in a Tibetan store. I recommend doing as much research as you possibly can, asking around on Yoga forums or chat rooms and even considering anti-cult sites like the Rick Ross Institute.
