Even though I am a feminist by my very nature, seeing as I believe wholeheartedly that we should be treated equal to men, the word “feminist” does send a chill down my spine. The reason being is that there are a number of transmisogynists in the feminist community. Fortunately, it is not a large number as they are a dying breed, given the fact that they hold the ignorance and prejudices of the old Janice Raymond mindset. They even go so far as to deny our existence, our womanhood and everything that we have worked so hard to acheive. And for what reason, what motivation, who knows? And while they are a dying breed, we do have to educate other young feminists so they do not develop irrational beliefs about and fears towards transwomen. So, to all young feminists who are reading this post, I ask you to read this post with an open mind and assess whether or not it makes sense to you.

One main problem that transmisogynists have is the desire they have to make transsexuals and transvestites the same. They are very offended by men who go to hotel rooms and dress up as women, apparently, but there is one issue with this delusion. Transsexuals are not transvestites given a number of reasons, the main one being gender identity and intention. Transvestites are usually men, with the gender identities of men, that enjoy dressing up in women’s clothes and find it to be erotic. Transsexuals are people who know that they are members of the gender that is opposite to their birth sex and work to correct this issue with what help they can get from the legal and medical institutions. As women, we dress up in *gasp* women’s clothes and live our lives as women, and guess what? There is no erotic point to this! I mean, sometimes, I enjoy dressing up in sexy panties but it is about as much as how another woman feels when she dresses up in sexy panties. I enjoy having a feminine body but I don’t get off to it, with my sexuality the way that it is, I cannot get off to my own feminized body.

Unfortunately though, transmisogynistic feminists choose to relate to only the physical body when they are referring to us. They do this whenever it is convenient for them to suit their cissexist bullshit mentality but they ignore one truth when they shove transwomen in front of the bus. They forget the fact that people are more than how they appear on the outside, they have a soul and a mentality all their own. This is a huge denial of who we are as people because we are more than our bodies, our souls and even our experiences. However, I personally feel very offended that the transmisogynistic feminists refuse to see us as more than bags of flesh and instead, think of us as male without even seeing who we are as people. Every interaction I make in my life here in Denver I do as a woman and I have a few female friends whom I hang out with sporadically. I live as a woman, laugh as a woman, love as a woman and I feel as though that is what matters. However, these people wish to continue on with their back of the bus mentality, well not even that – they want us off of the bus entirely.

Transmisogyistic feminists do not just target transsexual women either, they choose to label transmen as being women as well, which insults them in the same way that they insult transwomen but with a few more accusations. They call transmen traitors to women everywhere and really hurt them at every chance they get. They have no sensitivity to the impact their words have on these truly courageous men nor the respect to treat them as who they are. They call them traitors for being true to themselves and having the courage to go through transition, however being themselves traitors to womanhood. In their irrational attempt to rope off womanhood to transsexual women, they also wish to keep transmen in womanhood, despite their personal struggle and objections.

Transmisogynstic feminists accuse transsexual women of being anti-woman because we know who we are and refuse to live a lie ever again. However, based on what they say and their unfounded prejudice against transwomen they are anti-woman, ableist and very shallow. They are anti-woman because they choose to reduce the definition of “woman” to only the physical, with no regard to who one is mentally or dare I say, spiritually. They perversely reduce a woman to whether or not she was lucky enough to be born with a vagina and the proper reproductive organs. They are ableists simply because they have no sympathy towards transwomen for their birth defect and yes, I consider my “male” genitals to be a birth defect. They caused my body to mutate to adapt to male features, I was lucky enough not to grow too much facial hair that would need to be removed and have a somewhat male bone structure. And both of these combined prove that they are shallow for the same reasons.

To further the ridiculousness of transmisogynistic feminists, they use not scientific or logical basis to say that transsexual women are not women other than the fact that we used to have bodies which made us appear to be men. They believe that transsexual women are not really women but they have no basis other than what we are physically so I have no choice but to believe that these people are choosing to deny transwomen their womanhood simply because of our birth defect. They have no real evidence to justify their vitriolic hatred and desire to exclude transwomen from womanhood. Even throughout Janice Raymond’s book, The Transsexual Empire, she justifies her hate and vitriol with pseudoscience with the expert in that field, John Money. They also say that transsexuals are eroticized by their transsexuality, which implies the pseudoscience of autogynephilia. Of course, I may very well be the exception to the rule but I have to say that I am definitely not sexually attracted to my own body. I do enjoy primping a bit in the mirror and feeling sexy but I definitely do NOT feel any sexual attraction towards my own body.

With this pseudoscience, they harm the feminist movement by offending everyone around them, especially people that would otherwise be their strongest allies. We are prouder of our womanhood than any cisgendered woman simply because of the fact that we have had to fight and bleed for our womanhood. Whenever organizations or event managers choose the path of discriminatory tactics such as womyn-born-womyn, they are no better than the State of Ohio who refuses to allow transwomen to escape the male lie on their birth certificates. They are no better than Focus on the Family, sharing it’s shameful vitriol by claiming that it is men who want access to the properly gendered restrooms and facilities. They make a lot of claims that more enlightened generations who will go through the civil rights movement will discredit as baseless hate and nothing more. They are a humiliation to the word “feminist” and nothing more, simply because they refuse to grow up and realize that they are attacking innocent people.
