American Atheists: Raising (money for) the roof!

A week or so ago, I read on the front page of the American Atheists website that they were trying to raise money to help repair the roof at their New Jersey headquarters. This was announced by their interim president, Mr. Frank Zindler. Apparently, a lot of the building has been in a large state of disrepair and both the main office of American Atheists and the Charles E. Stevens American Atheist Library & Archives (C.E.S.A.A.L.A.) were also failing as well. The special climate-controlled, fire suppression-protected rooms of this building that held some of the most valuable texts and books about atheism and freethought were in the gravest danger. They need $77,000 to pay the contractors to repair the roof. So, yes, American Atheists is raising (money for) the roof, and they need your help!

I call upon all atheists, freethinkers and nonreligious people to dip into your chequing account and give what you think you can - even if it’s just $25. Because hell, even the smallest donations made by every atheist in this country can help to get the roof paid for in no time. I am certain that if every atheist were to send $1 in an envelope to American Atheists, their roof would be paid for in no time. But as it has been said time and time again, leading atheists is like herding cats, so that’s why I must post this decree: PLEASE, if you care anything about the immovable wall of separation of church and state, I emplore you to contribute any amount of money, no matter how small, to American Atheists.
