I know it seems a bit odd, a self-proclaimed atheist such as myself planning to visit places of worship around the Denver Metro area, but this would definitely be fun. The reasons for the tour would be to help teach Christians about atheism and hopefully help them to see that their religion is bogus. For the purposes of confidentiality, the churches I plan to attend are not going to be specified until after the day of attendance and no church will be attended more than once during the life of the project. Of course, this would assume that they would even have me back, considering the fact that I am an “evil hell-bound sinner”. The project is inspired by my visit to Faith Ministries and how well it went to prove that anyone with an opposing opinion is immediately thrown out. I plan to post the results of my mission every Monday following each visit. However, I will not attend the services of any church other than my own UU church on the first Monday of every month (reason being is I’d like to update everyone on how I’m doing overall and the “candles of community” portion of the service is a great way to do this).
This project is not without it’s rules and those rules will not be deviated from in any sort of manner, what-so-ever. This project’s ultimate purposes are to create new and interesting content for this blog and to help improve my confidence when talking to religious mental cases.
- I will not make any attacks about Christianity that cannot be backed up by evidence.
- I will leave when asked.
- Before the service, when I will make my statements, I will place copies of the God is Fake tract in choice places throughout the building. (Credit goes to the amazing Normal Bob Smith for his creation of the non-tracts)
- I will answer any and all questions honestly, unless they are calculated to be personal attacks against myself. Those will be ignored without any response.
- I will not reveal that my visit at any time was fodder for content on my blog without solicitation. If I am asked for my purpose for visiting, I will let them know that I am an evangelical atheist that wanted to spread the good news that there is no god, no hell and no reason to believe in any of the Christian fairytale. If they ask if I am publicing the events that will happen, I will be truthful and let them know that their actions, reactions and the words that the preacher will say are going to be recorded and quoted on the blog.
- If they know about the blog and want to see what I am to write, I will collect their e-mail address and promise to e-mail them a link to the post on my weblog.
- In my posts, I will quote directly and within the context of what the people being quoted actually said. I will also quote myself as accurately as I can remember. I will not make up any content that is not to be made up.
