At first, when I heard of Log Cabin Republicans, I thought that it was just a practical joke, much like Landover Baptist Church. But, no, they are seriously real. And sadly enough, even though we are all being attacked through the Republican party, these people still support the Republican party rather than trying to change the party from the inside out. These people are gay, they are Republican, and they are fighting a battle on a side that will ultimately leave them hanging. No one is more bigoted or hateful than a Republican candidate and McCain supports a constitutional amendment banning our equal right to the institution of marriage. Clearly, this is a threat to our relationships and to the legal and social recognition to them. And yet these people continue to support the republican party. Please, please, enlighten me - where is the logic in doing this? What logical reason could you possibly have to side with a political party that is so full of neo-conservatives, you would be lynched if they could legalize it on the senate floor? Please, tell me why you would want to vote for these people, much less support them?
Maybe this is an attempt to try to be loyal to the party that they were raised in. But being a minority that the republicans actively discriminate against, does it really make any sense to join a party that treats you with so much animosity and hate? Does it make any sense to join a party that does not have your best interests at heart, nor the best interests of any citizen of this country other than the 1% most wealthy? I would hate to say this, but this is not the time for party loyalty, it is time to fight for our civil rights and the Republicans won’t do that. In fact, the only candidate I had any hope for on the Republican side would have been RuPaul, er I mean, Ron Paul.
I read their website, they actually think that McCain is for gay marriage. I’m serious here, they actually think that McCain actually will support our equal rights when he gets in office. May I remind you all that this is a stupid thing to believe, especially given many of the remarks he has made AGAINST marriage equality?!?
Also, don’t get me started on Sarah Palin. I think she is an absolutely horrible candidate and she is even more horrible since she is so dumb-fuck crazy. She supported the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska, supports teaching creationism with OUR TAX DOLLARS, believes in abstinence education (look at how well such education turned out for her daughter) and ultimately, she is anti-choice. I don’t really understand how she could have been dumbfucked enough to see that being anti-choice is playing into the hands of the misogynistic homophobic Christians who want to control and demolish women’s rights, along with the rights of foreigners, homosexuals and other minorities. She doesn’t believe in Global warming for some reason people!!! Obviously something is seriously wrong with this picture!
So, I have to say this, if you do vote Republican, you will be wishing you hadn’t when McCain gets his Marriage Amendment which will allow the federal government to have constitutional basis to deny equal marriage rights to us. When this happens, I am going to hit the trails up to Canada because my fellow Americans, if John McCain wins this election, then I seriously do not know who is the most stupid person here. At least I have the common sense to see that John McCain is bad for the White House, bad for this nation, bad for equal rights and will ultimately fuck our country up. And plus, at least Biden is better on women’s rights than Palin is. I wonder why this is… is it because he isn’t a fucked in the head conservative that seems to think that the world is going to end in 2012? Or maybe it’s because being liberal has Mr. Biden that it pays to treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve? Good question.
