What I use to author this blog

I have a certain set of tools that I actively use to post to my blog. While it can be posted to when I am at any computer, I use the following hardware most of the time when I am writing on my blog. As a former tech-obssessed geek, I have a tech preference for certain brands as I have had experience with cheap crap. Dell, Lexmark and other craptacular brands like that are obviously low quality and I would never purchase them. However, Apple and Pentax are brands that I trust, because they have never broken down through reasons that could not be blamed on me. However, these things of mine fall apart thanks to being in my possession.

Hardware: My computer is a somewhat broken MacBook Pro, with almost everything on it broken. In fact, I have to type in a vertical manner when sitting in a chair, just so the display doesn’t fall over and fall to the floor (possibly even break). So, I would like to make sure that my shit lasts until I can afford another one and AFTER the surgery.

And a digital camera is something that I seriously want. And yes, I want a GOOD digital camera. So, what are my options if I want a decent digital camera? Well, I am quite partial to the Pentax Optio series of digital cameras. My first is the Pentax Optio S6, which I took to Canada with me. I got it on Amazon for around $100 less than the MSRP. My jackass landlord stole this digital camera, along with a memory card, the digital camera cable, my Apple iPod and my multi-function printer - along with $5,000 in Canadian cash. But the camera worked very well and was quite adequate for what I used it for.

Eventually, I won another digital camera for about $100 on eBay. It was a Pentax Optio S5i. It was not as high quality as the Optio S6, but it was adequate for having it. Sadly, though, some homeless guy stole my Optio S5i here in Denver, so I am digital camera-less. However, I plan to purchase a brand-new Pentax Optio A30 or Optio A40 once I have the surgery paid for. And yes, I have seen the specs on these cameras (and they are the shit!).

Software: I use the WordPress blogging platform because I am quite partial to it’s powerful UI and it’s customization. I have a number of different web browsers to post my content (Safari, Flock, Firefox, etc) but I prefer posting via Flock. And of course, I prefer to blog on the Apple Mac OS X platform. Come to think of it, I like to do my general computing on the Mac OS.
