I was talking with some people in my building and one of the people passing by said “Praise God” and I shouted back, as I normally do, “And Praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster!” She responded saying “You atheists and your flying spaghetti monsters!” I got a little irked and responded “Well, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is not real. It was a concoction to help show how teaching creationism in the classroom is foolish.” She responded back “Well, they teach atheism in the classroom!” This kind of puzzled me because I know of NO classroom in the United States or Canada that teaches atheism. We then went on to debate and she finally made the statement that “atheism is equivalent to racism”. That kinda took me aback and it made me think, how is atheism racist and why is it that some people choose to say things like that? Continue reading ‘“Atheism is racism” - WTF?’

Do you remember that fad with the bracelets that said “What Would Jesus Do?” Yes, looking back, even if I were a Christian today, I’d still think that those bracelets are a little kitsch. But hey, in Christianity, is anything sacred anymore and is anything in their religion free from being kitsch? But they got me to thinking “if people are so concerned about what Jesus would do… I could seriously give some pretty damn good advice on what Jessica Sideways would do…”. So, I have decided that it would be a pretty damn good idea to start an advice column asking what the LIVING Jessica Sideways would do. I can give advice that is not tainted with misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, infanticide and other such horrid things that God recommended. I am a saner more rational source to get advice from and I am offering it for free! Continue reading ‘What Would Jessica Sideways Do? (WWJSD?)’
Nick Gisburne has really done it this time. He’s writing another book, and in my opinion, it’s about damn time! Blasphemy! The Musical, is a songbook with over 100 songs about religion and knowing Nick Gisburne, they are sure to rouse and offend the sensitive moronic little Christians in your neighbourhood. Therefore, it is highly advised that you purchase this book so that you can work on the common ministry to irritate and offend Christians (well, at least that’s MY ministry). And the best thing about this book is that, unlike the book the Atheists are Revolting, this book will contain all sorts of songs to memorize and use whenever necessary. Like on the bus, in the line at the supermarket, in church (lol) pretty much anywhere. Also, if you can trick an entire congregation into singing one of his songs as a hymn, you will go down in ex-Christian comedy history, much like the crazy Christian woman who mentioned something about a Holy Ghost enema. If a girl needed anything to boost her self-esteem, it’s actually having been asked out on a date. I met her on an online dating website and she was the one that made first contact. I know that I am generally jaded about online dating websites but to be honest, I was just using this website for the tests (in fact, that’s how I found out about it - and I’m not alone in that fact). But when I changed my profile up a bit, a couple of people contact me - people who actually made first contact. And while at first, I thought that it would actually be just a few people making friendly chit chat (because to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting to actually attract anyone yet) someone actually showed some interest! I guess what they say is true, your profile can do a great deal of help or damage to you. Of course, that might still be complete and total BS but I am willing to chalk it up to that. About a week ago, after coming home from work, I had to stop in at the Boulder Transit Centre and who did I see but my old acquaintance, Brody! She just came back from Boulder Pride with her friends (I am ever so jealous) and now, she was beginning to head back to Denver. We only got to talk a little before the incident that really started to make my head spin begun. She went to use the ladies room and the RTD security guard got up, waddled over to the ladies’ room door and waited for her to come out. I was thinking “what the hell is he standing there for?” and was preparing to help resolve a confrontation between the long arm of the RTD Wackenoff, er I meant Wackenhut security guys and her. But then I saw what really was going down, as he started asking her why she went into the ladies room, thinking that she was a he. Of course, Brody corrected the man and he lingered around for a while, looking at her and walked away. I was all thinking “what the fuck?!?” Of course, when I had to go back to the Boulder bus the next day, I let the RTD Wackenoff security guard know and he said he’d look into it. But this does raise a bigger concern - what is the importance of passing and how can we in this society pass for who we really are? And what is the concern with passing at all? I want to tell you something - I read. I am a big fan of the written word and I also write too, as you can see. I have an enormous Amazon.com wish list that is dedicated solely to the books that I want. I even have a separate Amazon.com wish list for books on how to develop better writing skills. And looking at some of the books on my general wish list, you can generally get a feel for what I want to study in this point of my life. Right now, I am interested in enhancing my feminine image and thus, I have added tons of books about such a subject, among with other books which have words to memorize and odd trivia, which would be interesting to know. But my Amazon.com is largely unedited and since people rarely purchase anything for me on it, it serves my purpose of bookmarking a list of “books to purchase”. But, let’s look at what compiles my list and how it reflects on my projection of my future. Continue reading ‘My Reading List for a More Interesting Life’
With steady decreases in service, routes which only run on the weekdays and piss poor transit options outside of Denver and Boulder, RTD has the gall to even consider raising it’s fares. I mean, I know prices are going up and the cost of fuel is not exactly the cheapest (thanks to those damn Republicans) but seriously, I have to say that the fare increase is not justified at all. I mean, seriously, if you want to get around downtown Denver or Boulder, you wouldn’t have a problem, but just try to get around Westminster, or Broomfield or one of the other little towns further away from the Denver Downtown core, but still considered the “Denver Metro Area”. At first, when I heard of Log Cabin Republicans, I thought that it was just a practical joke, much like Landover Baptist Church. But, no, they are seriously real. And sadly enough, even though we are all being attacked through the Republican party, these people still support the Republican party rather than trying to change the party from the inside out. These people are gay, they are Republican, and they are fighting a battle on a side that will ultimately leave them hanging. No one is more bigoted or hateful than a Republican candidate and McCain supports a constitutional amendment banning our equal right to the institution of marriage. Clearly, this is a threat to our relationships and to the legal and social recognition to them. And yet these people continue to support the republican party. Please, please, enlighten me - where is the logic in doing this? What logical reason could you possibly have to side with a political party that is so full of neo-conservatives, you would be lynched if they could legalize it on the senate floor? Please, tell me why you would want to vote for these people, much less support them? Continue reading ‘Gay Republicans? Curious, very curious.’
