After talking with my old high school, it turns out that they refuse to change my name on my records and to issue a new birth certificate. Their rationale is that I do not have a court order which specifically requires the Klein Independent School District to update their records, so they feel that they don’t have to recognize the court order. What assholes! So, what needs to happen now is a court order which will specifically ORDER Klein ISD to change their records to reflect the new name change. But of course, if someone who was lucky enough to get married and have the Klein ISD change their name on their records to their married name, this could help my case dramatically! But sadly, I doubt that I would find someone who even went to a Klein ISD high school who lives here in Colorado. So, what has to happen now is I have to specifically draft a legal petition which will require the Klein Independent School District to legally change my name on their records and to issue a new diploma in the correct name. I am also going to try to have the Colorado court that I petition try to change my gender markers on their records as well. It’s such a good thing that I didn’t take any for-credit courses that were male-specific, like football or physical education! Continue reading ‘Interested in changing your name? The journey started on Tuesday, May 27th, when I arrived at the Denver Greyhound station and had to wait in fucking line for a baggage tag for one of my bags. I was almost worried that the bus would leave me. But the bus ultimately left 45 minutes late because the driver needed to pack about 6 more people onto the bus. And before we even left, a passenger that was drunk as a skunk, took a swing at another passenger before we even left the terminal. Well, at least he got a good night’s rest at Denver County Jail.
