I was reading the book, the Cult of Mac and I came across the chapter that talked about Apple’s Chief Evangelist and about the mailing list known as the Evangelist. The purpose of this list was to publicize articles which talked negatively about Apple’s products and to help get people who were dedicated to the gospel of Mac to get an author to rethink her/his statement. Well, I just thought “well, why would anyone bash Apple, they have some pretty good products”? Well, apparently, I have a couple of opinions about some Apple products where I think that Apple could have seriously done better. The first is about Apple’s web service MobileMe and when I posted about it, it happened to become instantly popular - having received about 500 hits since the day it was posted. This last weekend, my hits went from about 30-100 to numbers like 353 and 459 hits, pushing that post to be even more popular than the front page of my website. That post has the most comments of any posts, with most of them (very respectfully, I might add) disagreeing with me. And I have to wonder, is this the pull that Apple has over the world? Right now, I am having some troubles with my good friend, Becca. On Sunday night, I falsely accused her of ‘using me’ just so she could get access to my computer. Now, when I logically think about this, nothing could be further from the truth. But logic never permeates thoughts and actions when they are done without thinking and in the moment. So, I shot my mouth off and falsely accused her of wrongdoing without any basis at all. And of course, this depresses me and angers her because we are separated by a wall created by my own stupidity. Just fucking great.
