I transition because I need to and I want to have a set result. In other words, to live a good life and to be honest to myself. I mean, I enjoy some aspects of transition, but other confuse the hell out of me or wipe me out. Some are so financially unattainable in the immediate future that it creates a sort of plateau and that wipes me out. I mean, I think that except for voice feminization and a little bit of psychotherapy, I have pretty much done what I can do for now. I do plan to have Sex Reassignment Surgery as soon as possible and then start saving for FFS after that. I do plan to start laser hair removal once I return home from Thailand and once it has had it’s full effect, I plan to fall back on electrolysis (you know, so I can hopefully reduce the amount of money that I need to spend on hair removal). And there are some things about transition that make no sense what-so-ever and I believe that those things are what makes transition a lot like high school. In about one month, I will have successfully saved up enough money to send Dr. Pichet in Thailand my deposit so I can secure my price and date for vaginoplasty (more commonly known as sex change surgery). This job is a full-time job at $11 per hour and with that, I think I can send a pretty sizable amount to Dr. Pichet in Thailand, get my date set, get an official letter declaring the date of surgery (a projected date for the purposes of getting a new passport) and secure the surgery in a reasonable amount of time. This would mean so much to me, including an increase in quality of life with the change of important and vital records such as Social Security records and my birth certificate. And of course, the issues that are more comfort of life oriented. But the surgery will not change a lot in regards to passing or being accepted as a woman. No, I expect that I will need FFS and possibly a move to get fully accepted as a woman in society (but considering that I plan to be out, maybe just FFS). A week or so ago, I read on the front page of the American Atheists website that they were trying to raise money to help repair the roof at their New Jersey headquarters. This was announced by their interim president, Mr. Frank Zindler. Apparently, a lot of the building has been in a large state of disrepair and both the main office of American Atheists and the Charles E. Stevens American Atheist Library & Archives (C.E.S.A.A.L.A.) were also failing as well. The special climate-controlled, fire suppression-protected rooms of this building that held some of the most valuable texts and books about atheism and freethought were in the gravest danger. They need $77,000 to pay the contractors to repair the roof. So, yes, American Atheists is raising (money for) the roof, and they need your help! Sadly, I learned about a month ago that the amount of the Stafford Loan from Community College of Denver is too laughably small to help me get the surgery. So, with the little job prospects that I do have and the little hope that I have of getting gainful employment, I am going to have to cede to the fact that I will not be having surgery before the end of the surgery. But if nothing else, it will help teach me how to live as female without the surgery, thus appreciating the surgery more. And yes, it will give me more time to prepare things before I leave. Namely, the little things such as getting a cache of money together for Chinese food delivery, a cache of food to ensure that I do not have to run to Whole Foods while lying around the house, enough to pay off my utilties for a couple of months and to purchase the sundry items needed that I would go through much quicker since I would be at home, recovering from major surgery.
