Transition is important, I will not lie. But it is also important for me to have a computer so I can start blogging every day. It’s also important because when I go to Thailand for my surgery, I want to have my own music, games and everything available to me. That and, well, I have too much paper around my house and I really need to purge some things, so it would be good to have a computer. And I’ve already picked out the kind I want - the 1.5ghz 12″ PowerBook G4. Yes, it’s a minimac and it would do me well running around Denver, especially tucked away safe and secure in my purse. But one might be a little curious as to why I am interested in replacing my old powerhouse MacBook Pro with a computer that is essentially a blast from the past. I have a few reasons and I assure you, they aren’t all about how cute having a small laptop would be or how long the battery life is. But those are things I will touch on in this post. In about one month, I will have successfully saved up enough money to send Dr. Pichet in Thailand my deposit so I can secure my price and date for vaginoplasty (more commonly known as sex change surgery). This job is a full-time job at $11 per hour and with that, I think I can send a pretty sizable amount to Dr. Pichet in Thailand, get my date set, get an official letter declaring the date of surgery (a projected date for the purposes of getting a new passport) and secure the surgery in a reasonable amount of time. This would mean so much to me, including an increase in quality of life with the change of important and vital records such as Social Security records and my birth certificate. And of course, the issues that are more comfort of life oriented. But the surgery will not change a lot in regards to passing or being accepted as a woman. No, I expect that I will need FFS and possibly a move to get fully accepted as a woman in society (but considering that I plan to be out, maybe just FFS). Sadly, I learned about a month ago that the amount of the Stafford Loan from Community College of Denver is too laughably small to help me get the surgery. So, with the little job prospects that I do have and the little hope that I have of getting gainful employment, I am going to have to cede to the fact that I will not be having surgery before the end of the surgery. But if nothing else, it will help teach me how to live as female without the surgery, thus appreciating the surgery more. And yes, it will give me more time to prepare things before I leave. Namely, the little things such as getting a cache of money together for Chinese food delivery, a cache of food to ensure that I do not have to run to Whole Foods while lying around the house, enough to pay off my utilties for a couple of months and to purchase the sundry items needed that I would go through much quicker since I would be at home, recovering from major surgery.
