Customer Service is hell

Having been on both sides of the counter, I know for a fact that customer service is, in fact, hell. In fact, I’ve also worked at a telephone service centre so I know what it’s like to get the people who have been put on hold as well as putting people on hold. Basically, this is just a fact in the sad state of customer service these days. While many companies embrace the automated phone systems which, while (I think) good-intentioned, cannot really help people. And of course, the pre-recorded advice that they have for you while on hold is hardly helpful, if ever. In addition, when you finally do get that special someone to talk to you - they ask you for the same details that you just gave the automated service and the last few people. And the sad part is that while this is not the fault of the person working behind the phone or counter, they are the ones that take the heat for it. Continue reading ‘Customer Service is hell’

Pridefest, yay!

Well, I am volunteering at Denver Pridefest on both the 21st and the 22nd of this month. I am also going to be marching in the pride parade with my fellow UUs from the Mountain Desert District. So yeah, next weekend is pretty full for me, as I will probably be operating some sort of booth and policing the area to ensure that no one is selling anything at the Pridefest without having paid the GLBT Centre first. Tomorrow is my volunteer orientation so that is what I am doing after I get through with Pathways to Membership at First Unitarian Denver tomorrow. Continue reading ‘Pridefest, yay!’

Becoming a UU minister

I am considering becoming a minister with the Unitarian Universalist church. And I plan to go to Naropa University to get the degree that would allow me to become a minister at a UU church (a Master’s of Divinity is required). Now, I am a relatively sane person and I espouse no belief in a god. Why would I want to join the Unitarian Universalist church, much less become a minister in the UU church? Well, I have a number of personal reasons but the main reason that attracted me is that they do not espouse any homophobia or transphobia. In fact a number of Unitarian Universalists are understanding, awesome people that I love to congregate with.
