My Reading List for a More Interesting Life

I want to tell you something - I read. I am a big fan of the written word and I also write too, as you can see. I have an enormous Amazon.com wish list that is dedicated solely to the books that I want. I even have a separate Amazon.com wish list for books on how to develop better writing skills. And looking at some of the books on my general wish list, you can generally get a feel for what I want to study in this point of my life. Right now, I am interested in enhancing my feminine image and thus, I have added tons of books about such a subject, among with other books which have words to memorize and odd trivia, which would be interesting to know. But my Amazon.com is largely unedited and since people rarely purchase anything for me on it, it serves my purpose of bookmarking a list of “books to purchase”. But, let’s look at what compiles my list and how it reflects on my projection of my future. Continue reading ‘My Reading List for a More Interesting Life’

Had to Put Bikram Yoga on Hold

Due to the fact that I selected a Bikram class that is neither close from work or school and is not served by a nearby bus route, I decided that for now, I should probably quit Bikram yoga at the Bikram yoga studio in Westminster. This decision was quite difficult for me to make, as I enjoyed the classes, the heat wasn’t too bothersome, the instructors were kind and patient, and I believe that it was helping me to cope with a lot of the problems that were happening in my life. I definitely want to start this yoga practice again, but I cannot do this at the Westminster Bikram studio. I am planning to find a nearby studio in either Denver or Boulder, because either would be closer to work or home (maybe both when I finally get to move from Denver to Boulder). Back from my first class of Bikram Yoga

Today, at 9am this morning, I took my first class of Bikram yoga at the studio in Westminster, Colorado. And I can honestly say that it was vastly interesting. I completely forgot to bring a mat and towel, but the people there were kind enough to lend me one for my first class. (Mental note of things to bring: mat and towel.) I also barely had enough water to keep me well hydrated during class. I walked into the classroom and I have to say that although it wasn’t terribly, excruciatingly hot (compared to what I got used to in Texas) it was something to contend with when you are doing major and horribly invasive exercises when you were basically just a computer nerd with absolutely no adeptness at Physical Education or sports in general. Shit, even walking around Sloan’s Lake once had me winded, tired and panting for energy. But I thought that this would definitely help me out with my weight loss so I was not about to be discouraged now. Continue reading ‘Back from my first class of Bikram Yoga’

I Wonder if I Should Start Dahn Yoga

Well, I would like to say that I am considering starting Dahn Yoga. There are quite a few things said about this type of yoga, both good and bad, but I didn’t get any negative vibes about this from anyone I have spoken to about this yoga practice. But I have done a little bit of research about this and it looks like there are some pretty classic bouts of cult-like behaviour afoot and it would be wise to keep an open mind at all times, watch from a detached view point and ultimately, keep my head above water. Fortunately, it’s not like they can siphon much money out of me, as Dr. Pichet is going to be getting the majority of it and I will soon after be a student of Naropa University in Boulder. But I have checked out the Rick Ross website (they have a page on Dahn Yoga) and I have done a bit of research on my own about this type of thing. Contemplating Yoga

Now, as you know - I am a transsexual whose biggest ambitions in life are to transition and become a writer and a professor at a University. However, there is all the flotsam about self-esteem and appearance that really bothers me. And right now, the one thing I can do to improve my self-esteem and appearance is to lose weight. Since I weigh about 200 lbs and have a ‘beer belly’, this is something that needs to be improved. So, I am planning to start attending Bikram yoga courses and I have contacted the Bikram yoga college in Westminster. So far, it seems like the best deal in the Denver/Boulder corridor ($50 a month for the first month, $50 for the second month if you can make 25 courses in the first 30 days that you paid for and $130 thereafter).
