Time to Buy an Older Mac!

Transition is important, I will not lie. But it is also important for me to have a computer so I can start blogging every day. It’s also important because when I go to Thailand for my surgery, I want to have my own music, games and everything available to me. That and, well, I have too much paper around my house and I really need to purge some things, so it would be good to have a computer. And I’ve already picked out the kind I want - the 1.5ghz 12″ PowerBook G4. Yes, it’s a minimac and it would do me well running around Denver, especially tucked away safe and secure in my purse. But one might be a little curious as to why I am interested in replacing my old powerhouse MacBook Pro with a computer that is essentially a blast from the past. I have a few reasons and I assure you, they aren’t all about how cute having a small laptop would be or how long the battery life is. But those are things I will touch on in this post. Back from my first class of Bikram Yoga

Today, at 9am this morning, I took my first class of Bikram yoga at the studio in Westminster, Colorado. And I can honestly say that it was vastly interesting. I completely forgot to bring a mat and towel, but the people there were kind enough to lend me one for my first class. (Mental note of things to bring: mat and towel.) I also barely had enough water to keep me well hydrated during class. I walked into the classroom and I have to say that although it wasn’t terribly, excruciatingly hot (compared to what I got used to in Texas) it was something to contend with when you are doing major and horribly invasive exercises when you were basically just a computer nerd with absolutely no adeptness at Physical Education or sports in general. Shit, even walking around Sloan’s Lake once had me winded, tired and panting for energy. But I thought that this would definitely help me out with my weight loss so I was not about to be discouraged now. Continue reading ‘Back from my first class of Bikram Yoga’

I Wonder if I Should Start Dahn Yoga

Well, I would like to say that I am considering starting Dahn Yoga. There are quite a few things said about this type of yoga, both good and bad, but I didn’t get any negative vibes about this from anyone I have spoken to about this yoga practice. But I have done a little bit of research about this and it looks like there are some pretty classic bouts of cult-like behaviour afoot and it would be wise to keep an open mind at all times, watch from a detached view point and ultimately, keep my head above water. Fortunately, it’s not like they can siphon much money out of me, as Dr. Pichet is going to be getting the majority of it and I will soon after be a student of Naropa University in Boulder. But I have checked out the Rick Ross website (they have a page on Dahn Yoga) and I have done a bit of research on my own about this type of thing. Not going to renew my MobileMe account

Today, I have decided that it would not be a good idea at all to renew my MobileMe account. I got it last year in August and after using MobileMe for about a year, I guess I just can’t see any logical reason to continue using it for my normal e-mail purposes. I am transferring all my e-mail over to my mail account over here on MediaTemple and I am just going to let my MobileMe account expire. There are quite a few reasons as to why I don’t want to use MobileMe anymore, and many of them stem from the fact that I no longer own a computer of any sort. American Atheists: Raising (money for) the roof!

A week or so ago, I read on the front page of the American Atheists website that they were trying to raise money to help repair the roof at their New Jersey headquarters. This was announced by their interim president, Mr. Frank Zindler. Apparently, a lot of the building has been in a large state of disrepair and both the main office of American Atheists and the Charles E. Stevens American Atheist Library & Archives (C.E.S.A.A.L.A.) were also failing as well. The special climate-controlled, fire suppression-protected rooms of this building that held some of the most valuable texts and books about atheism and freethought were in the gravest danger. They need $77,000 to pay the contractors to repair the roof. So, yes, American Atheists is raising (money for) the roof, and they need your help! Remember to Replace Your Mint Code When You Update Your WordPress Themes!

For the past few days, I have been wondering why my website’s hits have been set to zero. And of course, this started on the day when I updated the K2 theme on my blog. Of course, I did not realize this until I looked at my Feedburner stats today. Humm, 10 subscribers and 3 hits today? Something isn’t right… So, I continue to try to figure out what the problem was and then it hit me - I forgot to add the Mint code to my K2 header.php file when I updated the theme! So, I decided to check to see if this was the case. It was, I saw that the source code to have Mint tracking on this site was missing. So, I went into Mint, copied the code and pasted it into K2. I wonder if there is a plugin that allows the Mint code to automatically be included so I don’t have to remember each time that I update the theme…

Why this Blog is VERY NSFW!

Howdy everyone! I would like to announce that I am now, once again, among the ranks of the employed. Besides the fact that my surgery is becoming more and more real due to the fact that I will soon be able to afford the deposit for Dr. Pichet’s services, assuming that I won’t be fired for the occassional blog post that I will make at work, I am jarred aware that, sadly, my blog is way too unsafe for work. I not only post about sundry topics such as my day to day life, but I am also prone to post irreverant and even satrical and spiteful posts. And yes, I am very unrepentant about the posts I make about religion, bad ex-lovers, homophobes and transphobes. But, I would like to remind all of my beloved readers that this blog is very unsafe for work. Why is this? Well, some may attribute it to the things I write or the tone I take on many issues. But I have to take it one thing further as it’s just the entire nature of this website. This website is owned by an atheistic male-to-female transsexual lesbian. Enjoy freshly minted statistics!

I have decided to start staying on top of how well my blog is doing. I have installed a copy of Shaun Inman’s Mint on my website (you can find it at http://statistics.jessicasideways.com/ ) and so far, it looks like I need to do some serious promotion for the blog. Because so far, I had 0 visits on my website today (I set it up so it wouldn’t count my hits on Mint). True, there are some really nice people linking to me now (thanks to the author at Completely Inappropriate, the linky is much appreciated!) and I am starting to get better and better at writing a blog more frequently, with the problem of having no computer (I am still sad to see my MacBook Pro go). And I believe that this is going to help me get along better in my transition. Of course, there are all sorts of idiosyncrasies that I have to deal with along the way in going through transition, but I am glad to know that more people are starting to give a damn about what I have to say. So thank you for reading!

Denied the Flight Attendant Job For Now

Today, I phoned the person that I interviewed with over at Employer name deleted for reasons of actually hoping to get the job later on. And basically, she said that while I was qualified for the job, her only concern was that I was nervous at the Interview. And if I was nervous in a private meeting with her, how would I possibly conduct myself in an airplane with about 30 passengers? I figured this would be the reason that I would be denied the job. But she told me that she was going to be interviewing again in a couple months, so I have a chance to work on this problem and then present myself once again, ready and able to take on the job! I Want to Know Why That Shithead Did That!

Alrighty, I want to know why that shithead Willow decided to play with my heart and my emotions and throw me aside like a paper cup after he got his jollies. I do not understand why it was that he wanted to do such a thing, offer me some hope for a relationship and then snatch it away as soon as I wanted to get together and do something. I cannot fathom why that shithead decided to fuck with my head like that. He tried to deny that he did such a thing today. Now, I know that he did, what he did was as clear as a fucking bell. The only thing I am interested in is knowing why he did such a thing. Continue reading ‘I Want to Know Why That Shithead Did That!’
