I Don’t Speak for All Atheists!

I would like to make a disclaimer here and that is, well, I don’t speak for all atheists and not all atheists agree with my hard line approach to religion. Atheism is simply the disbelief in a god or goddess and it’s not just your god or goddess, it’s all gods and goddesses. That’s pretty much it, and it allows for a wide variety of opinion among atheists, even some atheists who believe in UFO abduction or some that believe in Leprechauns (technically, since Leprechauns and UFOs are not gods you can still believe in them without compromising the default status as an atheist). The only thing that binds atheists is the disbelief in any god or goddess and this is generally the only thing commonly shared by atheists. We have differing political beliefs, some are Republican and some are even Communists (oh come now, is that such a bad thing compared to what America is NOW?). We have differing beliefs in the ideas of morals or how to live our lives, even atheists in the same profession have different methods of going about doing the same task. But we are all bound by the disbelief in a faery tale god who supposedly wants to save everyone from a horrible fate that could have been prevented by him and was actually put into play by him. We act responsibly in our religious beliefs, not allowing superstition into our day-to-day lives. Continue reading ‘I Don’t Speak for All Atheists!’

Gender Neutral Pronouns

When going to Rainbow Alley, I first heard the concept of gender-neutral pronouns. While I have to say that I do not care for them to be used to refer to me, I can’t help but wonder how many people would take these as an alternative. So, I did a little bit of research and saw that there are quite a few combinations of gender neutral pronouns. I genuinely worry about whether or not I am seriously offending the people that I write about by using gender neutral pronouns. I have never written about anyone who has made any objections, even when seeing the posts, but I’d like to be a little more sensitive about other people’s gender identities and to respect them. Especially because I of all people am aware of the fact that there are not just two genders, there are many genders and even many combinations of sexes. So, I would like to recommend the research of gender neutral pronouns. While I know there are many guides about this on the Internet, and many are of very high quality, I would highly recommend this guide on gender neutral pronouns. Remember to Replace Your Mint Code When You Update Your WordPress Themes!

For the past few days, I have been wondering why my website’s hits have been set to zero. And of course, this started on the day when I updated the K2 theme on my blog. Of course, I did not realize this until I looked at my Feedburner stats today. Humm, 10 subscribers and 3 hits today? Something isn’t right… So, I continue to try to figure out what the problem was and then it hit me - I forgot to add the Mint code to my K2 header.php file when I updated the theme! So, I decided to check to see if this was the case. It was, I saw that the source code to have Mint tracking on this site was missing. So, I went into Mint, copied the code and pasted it into K2. I wonder if there is a plugin that allows the Mint code to automatically be included so I don’t have to remember each time that I update the theme…

Why this Blog is VERY NSFW!

Howdy everyone! I would like to announce that I am now, once again, among the ranks of the employed. Besides the fact that my surgery is becoming more and more real due to the fact that I will soon be able to afford the deposit for Dr. Pichet’s services, assuming that I won’t be fired for the occassional blog post that I will make at work, I am jarred aware that, sadly, my blog is way too unsafe for work. I not only post about sundry topics such as my day to day life, but I am also prone to post irreverant and even satrical and spiteful posts. And yes, I am very unrepentant about the posts I make about religion, bad ex-lovers, homophobes and transphobes. But, I would like to remind all of my beloved readers that this blog is very unsafe for work. Why is this? Well, some may attribute it to the things I write or the tone I take on many issues. But I have to take it one thing further as it’s just the entire nature of this website. This website is owned by an atheistic male-to-female transsexual lesbian. Enjoy freshly minted statistics!

I have decided to start staying on top of how well my blog is doing. I have installed a copy of Shaun Inman’s Mint on my website (you can find it at http://statistics.jessicasideways.com/ ) and so far, it looks like I need to do some serious promotion for the blog. Because so far, I had 0 visits on my website today (I set it up so it wouldn’t count my hits on Mint). True, there are some really nice people linking to me now (thanks to the author at Completely Inappropriate, the linky is much appreciated!) and I am starting to get better and better at writing a blog more frequently, with the problem of having no computer (I am still sad to see my MacBook Pro go). And I believe that this is going to help me get along better in my transition. Of course, there are all sorts of idiosyncrasies that I have to deal with along the way in going through transition, but I am glad to know that more people are starting to give a damn about what I have to say. So thank you for reading!

A little blurb about the links section

Hiya! In an effort to continue to promote sites that I thoroughly enjoy, through the wordpress API (So I don’t have to do much more than add them in the Admin control panel) and to continue to save space on my sidebar, I have added a links section to my website. I am going to try to regularly post relevant and interesting links to the atheist, non-religious, transsexual and LGBT communities, as well as links of my friend’s website and links to places where you can generally have some fun. And while I do paid weblog postings, I assure you that I will NOT be accepting any sort of cash offer to be linked on this page. So, check it out!

Deleting Comments in the Queue

Today, I was met with some comments in my comment queue which were of a hateful nature. While I do choose to ignore such ignorant remarks, I think this is the perfect time to reflect on what comments I absolutely will delete. I believe that it’s important to know why I do delete some comments and why I elect to moderate comments at all. It all breaks down to the following reasons: Continue reading ‘Deleting Comments in the Queue’

What I use to author this blog

I have a certain set of tools that I actively use to post to my blog. While it can be posted to when I am at any computer, I use the following hardware most of the time when I am writing on my blog. As a former tech-obssessed geek, I have a tech preference for certain brands as I have had experience with cheap crap. Dell, Lexmark and other craptacular brands like that are obviously low quality and I would never purchase them. However, Apple and Pentax are brands that I trust, because they have never broken down through reasons that could not be blamed on me. However, these things of mine fall apart thanks to being in my possession. Continue reading ‘What I use to author this blog’

A new convention on this blog

I have decided to do something weird on this blog. On my last post, you will have seen an odd tag (rtd16). I plan to start tagging my posts that mention something that happens on the bus with the transit authority’s name (in this case, RTD) and the bus number (in this case, 16). This may be seen as a form of geolocation. It may even be seen as an interesting way to keep tabs on what buses I use, I don’t know. I just thought it would be interesting to do. So, keep reading the blog and I hope you enjoy what I write!

My weeklong hiatus

I have a lot to say, I do! Don’t get me wrong, I am still the highly opinionated atheist that everyone knows me to be. It’s just that my Cellular Internet connection has been cut off by Sprint because I refuse to pay a bill higher than what I was supposed to pay (damn those assholes!). So yeah, I’ve taken an unintentional weeklong hiatus from writing on the blog. Tune in next week though, because I will continue my evaluation of Satanism, the UUA’s principles, the fucked up beliefs of fundamentalist Christians and maybe I can even get an interview with someone from the Church of Satan *gasp*. Who knows? But either way, tune in next week for some definitely awesome jams!
