Visitors from the LDS Church!

“I’ll get the door”, I shouted up to Meredith when I heard them knocking on the door. It was a little too late as she started to come down and told me that we had visitors of the evil kind, missionaries from the Moron church just down the street. I decided that it would be my opportunity to mess with these people’s heads and to earn this house the status of one that the Morons would not visit again, ever. I told them that I don’t see that if their god believed transsexuality and homosexuality were so bad, that so many people are gay/trans and they can live happy lives as who they are, as long as they don’t try to deny it and make themselves neurotic. I also talked on an instance when one of the Moron prophets tried to talk someone out of transition and they were completely unaffected by it. They continued to try to conflate homosexuality with lying and stealing, which I tried to correct them on - as homosexuality does not hurt anyone. Appearantly, I need to re-read Betty Berzon’s Setting them Straight so I can get better at confronting these assholes with the latent homophobia. But I have a fortnight to do it in. ^_^ Continue reading ‘Visitors from the LDS Church!’

Tips for Marketing Christian Musicians

Now, I do not know why the hell I am telling Christian musicians how to do their job or how to try to con people into believing in the holy spirit when the fact of the matter is that I believe that belief in the holy spirit is the one thing that has been fucking this country up for all these years. However, I am also a personal development coach so I have decided to write a little quick guide for Christian Rock musicians who would like to know how to get the crazier of the Christian evangelicals off their backs and go back to the business of selling records. Of course, keep in mind that the truly crazy will not stop writing their spiels about how Christian rock is really the tool of the devil and everyone is going to go to hell if they hear a note of Micheal W. Smith’s music or some garbage like that. The truly crazy (a/k/a Jack Chick crazy) will continue to display their complete want for intelligence and are the same people that protest against homosexuality or abortion on the streets here in Denver. There is no talking with them, their pastors out in the middle of Pissbucket, Colorado or whatever have already brainwashed them to the point where they can just say a few words and these people will believe it to be true. Of course, you can never say THAT to anyone in public (and you might want to restrict who you say it to in private as well, cause you really don’t need it to appear in the Enquirer and the Watchtower the next day). With that in mind, let’s get on our way, shall we? Continue reading ‘Tips for Marketing Christian Musicians’

“Atheism is racism” - WTF?

I was talking with some people in my building and one of the people passing by said “Praise God” and I shouted back, as I normally do, “And Praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster!” She responded saying “You atheists and your flying spaghetti monsters!” I got a little irked and responded “Well, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is not real. It was a concoction to help show how teaching creationism in the classroom is foolish.” She responded back “Well, they teach atheism in the classroom!” This kind of puzzled me because I know of NO classroom in the United States or Canada that teaches atheism. We then went on to debate and she finally made the statement that “atheism is equivalent to racism”. That kinda took me aback and it made me think, how is atheism racist and why is it that some people choose to say things like that? Continue reading ‘“Atheism is racism” - WTF?’

Blasphemy! The Musical

Nick Gisburne has really done it this time. He’s writing another book, and in my opinion, it’s about damn time! Blasphemy! The Musical, is a songbook with over 100 songs about religion and knowing Nick Gisburne, they are sure to rouse and offend the sensitive moronic little Christians in your neighbourhood. Therefore, it is highly advised that you purchase this book so that you can work on the common ministry to irritate and offend Christians (well, at least that’s MY ministry). And the best thing about this book is that, unlike the book the Atheists are Revolting, this book will contain all sorts of songs to memorize and use whenever necessary. Like on the bus, in the line at the supermarket, in church (lol) pretty much anywhere. Also, if you can trick an entire congregation into singing one of his songs as a hymn, you will go down in ex-Christian comedy history, much like the crazy Christian woman who mentioned something about a Holy Ghost enema. An Identity Crisis, eh?

Well, I think that my protests had an effect which is now quite bittersweet. My blog experienced quite a bit of traffic during the DNC but it’s starting to level off with the news posts starting to fall into the archives. I hear all sorts of things about myself, one of which is that like the Democratic Party, I am having an identity crisis. And you know what? Sometimes, they are absolutely right. I am having an identity crisis, but not of the kind people think. I have an identity crisis of being a transwoman in a largely male-oriented world. I am giving up the white male privilege that society affords people who don’t necessarily fall into a minority for a queer label and a community. I don’t really think of it as a privilege but considering that since I’ve transitioned, it’s been harder and harder to get a job with a fairly decent rate of pay, I can’t deny the fact that white straight male people have it much, much easier than females, someone in the LGBT community, someone in the communities of colour and other communities. But let’s talk about the identity crisis I am facing, eh? Continue reading ‘An Identity Crisis, eh?’

DNC Week Is Going Better Than I Initially Thought

I personally have to say that this is truly a “foot in the mouth moment” as I look back and say that the DNC was not the maelstorm that I initially thought it was going to be. I think that things went on very well, there was a minimal amount of violence and the police presence was nothing but helpful. This week, even though I was not planning on going to the actual convention, I expected the DNC to ruin my work week and make my life in the Mile High City a living nightmare. That was not even close to my experience at all! I have had lots of fun along 16th Street Mall protesting against many groups of people. While it is true that such bigotry and hate makes me ultimately saddened for these people, who cannot see the love and beauty of our relationships, I guess these protests and the counter-protests serve a very fundamental purpose of letting people know that these people are the very face of homophobia and bigotry, that the consequence for acting like these people is looking like these people. When Will Those Fundies Get It?

When you think that the person running the “truth truck” might be feeling a little bit more shame for their actions and see how they look in the public eye, your eye catches a news article. An article that exclaims, once again, that the Christian morons are at it again! This time, their enemy hobby horse is on Abortion and it’s an addition that they hope to place during the DNC maelstrom. This city will be at maximum capacity with those of us who aren’t going to the convention trying to find ways to conduct our business without going into the downtown corridor. And these people are looking to irritate, misinform and confuse as many people as humanly possible. This would be a big audience for them, left leaning people by the thousands who care about human rights more than a church would be seeing their message of hate and poison. You have all sorts of people who are trying to stir up trouble during the Convention and I sincerely hope that Denver Police can help keep these people in check. Someetimes, You Have to Wonder if Christians Are on Some Sort of Drugs

Every time I talk to a Christian about their religion and why I am opposed to it (a few of the many reasons, trust me), they seem to believe that someone could possibly reject the love of “gentle Jesus” who plans to burn all those in hell who don’t believe in him. I tell them that it is because of the fact that I cannot see that a “loving god” could possibly allow people to be tortured in hell for all eternity. They then proceed to tell me that this loving god is also just. I tell them about how Jesus is willing to forgive the ’sins’ of believers, even murder and rape, but unwilling to forgive the unbelievers for the ’sin’ of non-belief. And how people like Ted Bundy can offer an honest repentance and get fast tracked to heaven but good, moral atheists will burn forever in hell just for not believing in god. Then they tell me that God is above human ways or make up some sort of bullshit that comes out to absolute nonsense. This makes me think either one of two things, either (1) Christians start taking psychotropic meds at the beginning so their minds are dulled down and cannot use reason or logic in their day to day lives, (2) Christians are bred genetically stupid from the cradle and will believe any sort of garbage you tell them or (3) that Christians are on some sort of drugs. I think it’s number 3 because of the fact that Religion is a drug. Continue reading ‘Someetimes, You Have to Wonder if Christians Are on Some Sort of Drugs’

It’s Just a Cracker, Get Over Yourselves!

Today, I was reading a story that was linked from the American Atheists website and it was the story of a man (Webster Cook) who took a supposedly “blessed” cracker (a Eucharist as it is known) out of a catholic church. He removed the cracker so that he could help teach a friend of his about Catholicism but the people of the faith were not buying the truth, as usual. People got all up in a tizzy, giving him hateful phone calls, calling for his death and saying that he committed a hate crime against their religion. He finally returned the cracker to the church and he is asking for the death threats and all sorts of other threatening e-mails to stop. Yes, I kid you not, all this over a cracker. In fact, the local diocese referred to this as a hate crime as well, which is blatantly absurd because of a few simple facts: Continue reading ‘It’s Just a Cracker, Get Over Yourselves!’

Kentucky Government, Stop Allowing the Violation of Separation of Church and State

When I was browsing the hate mail section of NormalBobSmith.com, I found a letter that was sent to Bob from a girl who lives in a Kentucky. Unfortunate, I know, but that is not the bad part about this issue. The issue is that she was convicted of a charge that had to do with drugs and it turns out that she was given a sentence which would require her to be subjected to religious nonsense or have a warrant issued for her arrest. This was clearly made compulsory and this attitude of disrespect towards another persons’ choice not to become one of the sheep and fall in line at the church. This sentence was ironically issued by the Attorney General of the county, someone that should know all too well that actions like this are not only morally reprehensible but also a violation of this person’s civil rights and liberties.
