I started this degree with the intention of ameliorating my artistic and design skills. I learned a lot about design, colour theory, layout design, photography and Photoshop and I firmly believe that my time at the Art Institute made me a stronger designer. I met a recruiter from the Art Institute of Colorado when I was pursuing an Associates of Applied Science in Professional Photography at the Red Rocks Community College. This was when I gave serious consideration to making web design and development my permanent career.
I believe in the pragmatism of our industry and continuing a degree programme where all I had left to complete were these incredibly basic coding classes that I couldn’t test out of didn’t seem pragmatic to me. Therefore, I made the choice to move on, apply what I learned at BYOU Magazine and start my career from there.
